Time to wrap up all the movies I've watched within a two-day span from yesterday until now.
So we have one animated movie, four romantic comedies (the one is kinda sliding down a bit, going to the drama genre), and one action-packed movie.
Persepolis. 2007. I like this movie a lot for its unique animation. Most of the movie was in black and white. The cartoon was simply made (since it was based from a comics of the same name). But what turned me on about the movie is the story. Aside from few humorous scenes and some goofy acts, this movie addresses many issues in today's world, like women inferiority, racism, and effects of war. Actually, this comic-turned movie is an autobiographical masterpiece of Marjane Satrapi who had to leave Iran because of the Iranian Revolution. She went to Vienna to study there only to find out that her life got worse. When she returned to Iran after the revolution, her life got worse. She was not allowed to be in public without veil, nor allowed to party, nor allowed to hold hands with a boyfriend. After a failed marriage, she decided to go finish her studies at France where the movie ended. Over-all, I liked this movie a lot and improved my view on animated films. Out of 100, I would give it an 89%.

The Art of Getting by. 2011. It's a movie about an introvert boy named George who met a girl named Sally from the school roof. George's view in life is kind of unique. He thought that life is more scary than pain or death. He thought that everything is meaningless, even his homeworks. Because of this, he did not make her assignments at all, causing his almost-expulsion. He was very awkward in every way possible since he met Sally. He experienced many things: having a girlfriend, going to the club, and making love. But there's always this guy who would get the girl (like in many rom coms). Dustin, a painter and George's mentor tried to get Sally from him, thus breaking his heart. He also had to face a family problem. He was also almost kicked out of school due to stubbornness. However, he solved all of them in the end. He is now happy with Sally, whom I think is the girl she'll be marrying. The story is very unique, not quite like any rom-coms, though some of the plot is predictable. It's like a common unique plot, if you know what I mean. You'll find many new aspects of the movie. The acting of the actors were very nice. Out of 100, I would give it a 90%.
Wedding Daze. 2006. Another dorky guy meets a beautiful girl rom-com movie. It start with Anderson losing her girlfriend Vanessa because of a heart attack. He was about to propose to her but she died. A year after that, he cannot still stop thinking about her, until he proposed to an unknown girl to the person of Katie who also had a rough love life. She had a boyfriend, this William, whom she loves but does not want to marry. So, she said yes to a stranger's proposal. After some conflicts in their lives, some police action, being caught, put in prison, and some drama, they finally wedded on Atlantic City. After the wedding, almost all of them went to jail, but some of them became free men. Anderson and Katie lived happily ever after. Over-all, the movie put me into laughter, but all of the story lines were already cliched and predictable. Out of 100, I give this movie a 78%.
Love and other Drugs. 2010. A story mainly about love and drugs, this movie is really rated PG. It features a lot of love making, and it should not be watched by kids. It's a story of a drug dealer named Jaime (it's not the illegal drugs in case you're wondering) who met Maggie while having her check-up. They grew to know each other by doing it (you know what I mean). Whenever they would get together, they would do it. But love grew from this making and they had a relationship. Amidst Maggie's Parkinson's disease, they still made it through all. Over-all, this movie is a good one, with good acting and a very nice sense of humor -- it's a rom-com, again. Every rom-com has it's blurry parts. They separated for a while, but in the end, they still made it through together. Jaime had to quit his job offering at Chicago where he would have made great money from there just to be with Maggie. He wants to support her through all. Out of 100, I would give this movie 84%.
Kick-Ass. 2010. It's all about superheroes without superpowers. Kinda weird but very good right? It's another dork protagonist named Dave whose mission in life is to help others by becoming a superhero. He tried being one by making a costume out of some wet suit. But, he's very untrained and was almost killed because he was stabbed. Luckily, he was able to survive. Another brawl caused his fame when he tried to fight with three other men. His superhero name Kick-ass became an online sensation with his Myspace account reaching too thousands. He befriended her crush, Katie, who thought he was gay. A request from her led him to go to a house and tried to beat some goons. But as he was losing the fight, Hit-Girl came to the rescue killing all the goons brutally. This caused the enemy's outrage -- Frank. After hearing the news, he immediately wanted Kick-ass's head on a stick. While this was on progress, Dave confessed to Katie that he's Kick-ass and he's not gay. In the end, they made love, a first time for Dave. Red Mist also appeared in this scene. He is Frank's son. After some plans and other twists of the plot, they realized that Kick-ass did not do anything -- from the killing of the black goons to the burning of the warehouse. It was Big Daddy, Hit Girl's father. So, with the help of Kick-Ass, they were able to trace them and arrested Kick-Ass and Big Daddy, almost killing Hit Girl. When the brutal hazing of the two were happening, it was being broadcasted live. Luckily, Hit Girl came to the rescue and killed all those who hazed his father and Dave. But it was too late. His father already was dying. When Dave thought that everything was done, Hit-Girl or Mindy had another plan -- to finish what they've started. After devicing a plan, the two of them went to the building of Frank. After some very brutal scenes, they were able to finish Frank and all his goons, except his son who is going to avenge his father of course. In the end, all of them lived happily ever after, with Mindy adopted by Bid Daddy or Damon's best friend. Overall, this movie has been one of the best action movies I've seen in years. It's so brutal, blood is scattered everywhere. Out of 100, I grade it 93%.

Submarine. 2010. It's suppose to be a comedy as it is said on Wikipedia and on its poster. Even my brother said that he laughed at many scenes of the movie. I was surprised by those testimonies. All the while when I watched the movie, I only laughed about two times and smiled about 5-6 times all through out the movie. It may be because I cannot understand British humor, or I just have a low sense of humor that I didn't understand it. It's another dorky student named Oliver who fell in love with Jordana, a normal girl from his school. At first they didn't work out, but in the end, they fell in love with each other, to the point of making love. But many problems arose in his life. His parents had a hard time in their marriage, Jordana's mother had cancer, and others. He almost gave up, but he continued living. He tried becoming a spy. Shortly after the New Year, his family was restored peacefully, and he and Jordana had to breakup. But in the end of the movie, they seem to grew to love each other again. Overall, this movie was very interesting to watch. The music was outstanding. The cinematography was very good, it's not like the others. The directing was very outstanding, double thumbs up to them. The acting was good. Everything was perfect. So, out of 100, I gave this movie a 93%.
Since my exams are over, this would be my new past time for the moment. Wait till I'll review more films.
